Hello all. One thing about sending progress reports is, well, you need to have progress to report. We finally do, as we conclude the saga of the laundry room cabinet.
When we left off we had attached the two expanded cabinets. Next was to fill in obvious gaps and nail holes and remove the doors to make painting easier.
Then we added a coat of primer on this unfinished wood.
Then we added some color. Two coats of Sherwin-Williams' Take Five to be precise.
When we moved the piece into position we noticed a small problem. We'd preserved the hole/bracket system for holding shelves when we added three inches to the depth but discovered that a 1x12 board would no longer sit securely on the metal pegs. What to do? Why add two inches to the depth of each shelf of course.
Then we were finally ready to turn this:

We also had a quick update to another project--installing baseboard in the last room we laid flooring. Regular readers will know our firm stance on baseboards and other finishing touches, so we won't rehash those old arguments. Here's installation in progress:
